Freedom Now
Freedom Now is a Christ centered 12-step recovery ministry that meets every Tuesday evening at The Promise Center.
If you need help overcoming an addiction (of any kind) we invite you to please come visit us on Tuesday evenings!
Mission Statement
Freedom Now was inspired by the need for a Godly intervention when life on life’s terms is too hard. We all suffer from a depleted and defeated spirit and have tried to band-aid the pain and hopelessness with a variety of addictions.. some have tried with drugs & alcohol, some with over-eating, some with promiscuity… but all end with the same result- a thirst that can’t be quenched and a desperation to find the solution. We are here to reveal what will heal and restore our spirit: a relationship with Jesus!
Correlating 12 steps & Scripture
Here at Freedom Now we have discovered that the basic principles behind the concept of recovery have been drawn from the Bible. We take it back to it’s original source and text where we find a promise of deliverance!
Step 1 – We admitted we were powerless over our addictions, that our lives had become unmanageable
“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not” – Romans 7:18
Step 2 – We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” – Philippians 2:13
Step 3 – We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” – Romans 12:1
Step 4 – We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves
“Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD” – Lamentations 3:40
Step 5 – We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed” – James 5:16
Step 6 – We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of characters
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up” – James 4:10
Step 7 – We humbly asked God to remove all our shortcomings
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness ” – 1 John 1:9
Step 8 – Make a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends with them all
“And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise” – Luke 6:31
Step 9 – We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others
“Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift” – Matthew 5:23-24
Step 10 – We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, we promptly admitted it.
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall” – 1 Corinthians 10:12
Step 11 – We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying for the knowledge of His will for us and His power to carry it out
“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” – Colossians 3:16
Step 12 – Having had a spiritual awaking by the result of these steps, we carry the this message to others and to practice daily these principles in all of our affairs
“Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted” – Galatians 6:1
“And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” – Mark 16:15
