FOUNDATIONS (an overview)

Making Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior is the most important and exciting decision you will ever make! But is it just the beginning —

If you are a new believer, or just want to revisit the foundational teachings God wants us all to live by, register for our Small Group held every Sunday at 10:15am and come join us.

We encourage you to use these materials throughout the week for your personal Bible studies and discipleship pursuits, even if not attending the sessions. They contain a lifetime of discovery for you to uncover and enjoy!

Before the first session, please watch Pastor King’s message “Wedding Crashers

God created you in His image and lovingly desires to be with you always, both now and in eternity. Our greatest purpose in life is to live in a way that glorifies and blesses God (makes Him smile and say “well done”!).

As we willingly cooperate with God, our lives are changed, we are transformed into the likeness and image of Jesus, and we are released into the calling and purposes God has for us. We cannot live a meaningful life without Him. We cannot do this on our own. We “desperately” need God, His grace, and the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Let us learn to live a life of being joyfully desperate for God and rejoicing to live in His presence!

GOD’S LOVE:

Everything God says and does is because of His incredible love for you (1 John 4:16-19, John 3:16, John 10:10). Everything God says and does is for your good (Jeremiah 29:11). He wants us to respond to him willingly and joyfully because of our love for Him. He is not a legalistic rules guy, or an angry God waiting to punish you. He is for you, not against you (Romans 8:31)!

GOD’S PLAN:

We will be discussing what God has already done for you, and what He will continue to offer and require as you learn to fully follow Him. Our desire is for you to become rooted and grounded in God’s love with a grateful and thankful heart filled with love for God as you fully follow Him (Colossians 2:6-8, Ephesians 3:16-17).

We will also reveal what you are to do, both initially to be saved, but as importantly, to continue to do as God reveals His plans for you. Salvation is just the beginning of your transforming walk with God.

WE WILL BE SHARING:

  • The “what’s” and the “why’s” that make up Gods plans, promises and commands for your new life
  • Why did you need to be “saved”? What were you being saved from?
  • What happened to you the moment you committed your life to Jesus
  • What are the following and how do they practically apply to your new life with God?
    • Heaven/Hell/Eternity
    • Sin
    • Repentance
    • Forgiveness
    • Calling, Purpose and gifting
    • Sanctification
    • Tempting and testing
    • Transformation
    • How to have a vibrant, ongoing personal relationship with your loving God

We understand these sessions could be described as “taking a drink of water from a firehose”! We will be highlighting basic truths God wants you to know and understand as He begins changing you into Jesus likeness and image with grace and the power of the Holy Spirit. We will not have time to go into depth on them, so each will have scripture references for your ongoing personal Bible study, meditation and prayer. Do seek a mature Christian to talk with between sessions who can answer questions, pray and be an encouragement.

SIDE NOTE: We strongly encourage you keep a notebook to write down what really speaks to you during the study, and to talk regularly with folks committed to both being a disciple and being a maker of disciples of Jesus. It is important you continue to meet regularly for both personal growth and accountability. This blesses God more than you can imagine and will propel you along your personal walk with Him.

Look forward to seeing you for our first session (Introductions)
